A question of commitment?

When two people are in a relationship and love each other , they take utmost care not to hurt each other. But what happens, when there is a conflict of desires/sensibilities/ ideology, does one protect oneself or the other . Actually there is no other, but we live in a dual world , and have to fight this other and make the other seem wrong and condemn it. I know it is wrong to be judgemental about the other , cause it's just my mirror image , but I am over protective about my ego. So why are there moments when we two are one and then moments where you become the mirror and I can't recognize the truths the mirror tells me, and I call it lies. I guess , my dog knows better, when he looks at me and cries. Time to understand her better. Sent from my iPhone, excuse the typo's
